Sharing the light of Christ

TUMC is a Christian community in the Mennonite-Anabaptist peace church tradition. We aspire to be a family of faith that welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and stories, worshipping and supporting each other, while following Christ’s example in working for peace and justice in our urban context.1

Good Friday

Good Friday, a day of solemn remembrance of Christ’s crucifixion, will be marked with two gatherings.

10:30 a.m. An intergenerational gathering, suitable for children as well as adults, will include lots of movement, story telling, an experience of the Last Supper, a craft, and travelling around the stations of the cross, hearing the difficult story of Good Friday in words appropriate for younger ears and preparing our hearts for the dawn of Resurrection Sunday. Guests are warmly invited to join us, and bring the kids!

7 p.m.: In the evening we gather with our Spanish-language sister congregation, Iglesia Menonita Nueva Vida, for a contemplative Good Friday Communion Service. You can also join us online if you have the regular Sunday Zoom link (check email announcements).

Easter Sunday

Alleluia! We celebrate the Resurrection with a joyful service of story and song. Newcomers and guests are always welcome to join us Sundays at 11 a.m. for worship, in person at 1774 Queen East or online. There are no Faith Formation classes this week, but you are invited to linger afterwards to enjoy coffee, tea and delicious homemade Easter breads. Regulars are invited to bring flowers to decorate the sanctuary for this special service. Whether you’re looking for a church home, wrestling with spiritual questions, or simply curious about Christian faith in the Mennonite/Anabaptist tradition, there’s room for you at TUMC!

Keep in touch!

To benefit from spiritual encouragement, community news, and get the weekly Zoom Worship link, ask to receive TUMC Connects by email.  Just send us a quick email at administrator@tumc.ca with ‘sign me up for TUMC Connects’ in the subject line and let us know a little about how you found us. (A bit of information helps keep our online gatherings safe and welcoming.)

Truth & Reconciliation: our pledge

Our congregation meets in territories of the Wyandot, Haudenosaunee, and Michi Saugig Nations. As beneficiaries of a violent history of colonization, we recognize our responsibility to uphold treaty relationships and so seek to be guided by Indigenous truth-tellers toward restitution, restoration, and reconciliation.
