TUMC is a Christian community in the Mennonite-Anabaptist peace church tradition. We aspire to be a family of faith that welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and stories, worshipping and supporting each other, while following Christ’s example in working for peace and justice in our urban context.
Holy Week
Join us for these special services in this important week in the Christian faith, as we complete our Lenten theme of “Dwelling in Dissonance”!
Good Friday (April 3): On this day remembering the Crucixion, there are two services.
Family program (10:30 a.m.): An age-appropriate intergenerational morning Story Walk, reflecting on Holy Week as we move around the building to hear a story, experience the Last Supper, prepare a craft and walk the stations of the cross.
Adult Communion service (7 p.m): A joint Good Friday commemoration takes place in partnership with the Iglesia Menonita Nueva Vida, which will include Spanish and English elements. This is a communion service with optional footwashing. Accessible online using the same link as the Sunday service.
Easter Sunday (April 5): Join us at 11 a.m. for a joyful celebration of the Resurrection, with a special display for the children and homemade Easter breads to enjoy with coffee and tea after the service. There will be no Faith Formation classes this week, but there will be Activity Time for children during the latter half of the service.
Whether you’re looking for a church home, wrestling with spiritual questions, or simply curious about Christian faith in the Mennonite/Anabaptist tradition, there’s a place for you at TUMC. Join us for worship at 11 a.m. every Sunday. Faith Formation classes for kids age 3 through middle school start at 10 a.m., while the senior youth class coincides with the worship service at 11 a.m. For adults, there’s also Sunday Brew (coffee and discussion) at 10 a.m. on the second floor, and Lectio Divina (contemplative prayer) in the main-floor pastors’ offices. Stay for coffee afterward — we’d love to meet you!
CHURCH ON THE GROUND meets at 1774 Queen St. E., in the Beach neighbourhood. We’ve relaxed our anti-Covid practices, but masks are encouraged.
CHURCH IN THE CLOUD is open to everyone, far and wide, via the Zoom link available in the emailed announcements. (Don’t get the announcements? Contact Madalene before noon Friday.)
