TUMC is a Christian community in the Mennonite-Anabaptist peace church tradition. We aspire to be a family of faith that welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and stories, worshipping and supporting each other, while following Christ’s example in working for peace and justice in our urban context.
This Sunday
We’re marking Palm Sunday, the final Sunday of Lent, this week, March 24, concluding our theme of “Hungering For Hope” in a time of environmental crisis. Watch for an eco-friendly celebration using cedar branches, referencing a sacred tree for many of Canada’s Indigenous peoples. Worship begins at 11 a.m., in person and online. Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. for kids and teens, and adults are invited to enjoy a special discussion at that time with our guest speaker for the day: Wendy Janzen, Eco-Minister for Mennonite Church Eastern Canada.
As we prepare for Easter, we look ahead to two Good Friday services, a family-friendly event that starts at 10:30 a.m., and a more meditative 7 p.m. evening service featuring Taize elements and Communion.
On Easter Sunday we meet at 11. Join us to celebrate the risen Christ and share Easter bread and coffee after the service.
Whether you’re a committed follower of Jesus, interested in exploring questions of faith in a safe and welcoming environment, or simply curious, there’s a place for you at TUMC!
CHURCH ON THE GROUND meets at 1774 Queen St. E., in the Beach neighbourhood. We’ve relaxed our anti-Covid practices, but masks are encouraged.
